A mission is a client engagement or contract. Business roles (administrator, operations, executive) can view missions; only administrators can create, edit, or delete them. The list shows Name, Client, Start, End, Status, and Budget, with the budget cell toned by health.

Create a mission

  1. Open Missions and select Add mission.
  2. Choose a client and give the mission a name.
  3. Add a description, a start date, and an optional end date.
  4. Set the Status.

The sale mode and the budget targets are set on the mission’s budget, not in the create form.

A mission carries no price. The amounts billed to the client live on the mission’s assignments, where each consultant staffed on the mission has their own billing rate. See Assignments.

Budget card

The budget card lines up Budget, Actuals, and Forecast across Revenue, Cost, and Margin, followed by a Vs budget (forecast) comparison and a health label: No data, On track, At risk, or Over budget.

Actuals accrue as work is validated:

  • Revenue: validated timesheet days multiplied by the assignment’s billing rate
  • Cost: validated timesheet days multiplied by the consultant’s daily cost
  • Expenses: billable grosses count toward revenue, incurred nets toward cost

Editing the budget is admin-only. Edit budget sets the sale mode and the two targets; leave a field empty to clear it. Budget figures are restricted for some roles; the card then shows Budget figures are restricted for your role.

Assignments

The Assignments section of a mission lists the consultants staffed on it: Consultant, Billing rate, Start, End, Status. Select Add assignment to staff a consultant:

  • Consultant
  • Billing rate - the price billed to the client for this consultant on this mission
  • Start date (required)
  • End date (optional)

Creating and editing assignments is admin-only. The section is visible to administrators and executives; operations can open a mission but never sees its assignments.

Beyond the mission

The dashboard’s At-risk budgets and Ending soon cards read from this data. See Dashboard.
